About Me

Dr. Inas Aboobakar is a board-certified glaucoma surgeon, clinician-scientist, and ophthalmology hospitalist at Mass Eye and Ear. She specializes in diagnosing and treating all forms of glaucoma and cataracts in adults, and provides inpatient consultations for patients admitted to area hospitals. Patients value her combination of advanced surgical skill and practical advice on medications, monitoring, and vision-preserving habits. Dr. Aboobakar earned her MD at Duke University School of Medicine, completed ophthalmology residency at the Wilmer Eye Institute at Johns Hopkins, and finished a two-year glaucoma clinical and research fellowship at Mass Eye and Ear. She also completed internship training at Cedars-Sinai and serves as an instructor in ophthalmology at Harvard Medical School. Her approach is to match each patient with the least invasive, most effective therapy—whether that’s drops, laser, MIGS, or cataract surgery—with careful follow-up to keep vision stable over time.
