A digital teammate
for your ophthalmology practice.

Automated, AI-assisted insurance verification and patient eligibility software — built for independent ophthalmology practices.

Meet Avery — a digital teammate that checks insurance and pulls benefits for every patient on your schedule, then writes the answer back into the exact status field your front desk already uses. It works the way your team already works — and you only pay for the checks it completes.

Why practices hire Avery

Front-desk automation built for ophthalmology practices.

Different practices put Avery to work differently — coverage, morale, or fit. None of them are wrong.

Coverage

When your team is out, Avery isn't.

PTO, sick days, that week your front desk is short-staffed. Tomorrow's clinic still gets verified on schedule — every patient, every morning.

Morale

The work nobody wants? Avery handles it.

Holding on payer lines, re-keying benefits, chasing member IDs. Avery takes the eligibility grind so your team does the work they trained for.

Fits your workflow

No new system to learn.

Avery marks each patient cleared exactly the way your front desk already does — same status field, same worklist. Nothing for your team to relearn.

Avery's first skill

Patient eligibility &
benefits verification.

Automated insurance eligibility verification, live now for ophthalmology practices. One skill, done thoroughly — not ten done halfway. You pay only for completed results.

Available now

What Avery does, every visit

For every patient on the schedule, Avery checks coverage and pulls the benefits your front desk needs — then writes it into your system, in the field they already use.

  • Confirms the patient's coverage is active and in-network
  • Pulls copay, deductible, and coinsurance — what the patient will owe
  • Handles Medicare Advantage plans correctly
  • Writes the answer into your status field, and flags anything that needs a person
  • Flags termed plans & ID mismatches to your team
Coming next

What Avery doesn't do yet

We'd rather do one thing completely than gesture at everything. These are coming — and we'll say so plainly when they ship.

  • Prior authorization automation — the next skill, coming soon
  • Procedure-level estimates — cataract, IOLs, injection drugs (Eylea, Vabysmo, Lucentis) ride with prior auth
  • Vision-plan benefits — VSP, EyeMed, Davis, Spectera
  • Patient outreach — Avery flags issues to your front desk; your team makes the call

A note on how we build

Skills, not new hires.

Most vendors want to sell you a new tool for every workflow. We don't. Avery learns new skills as you need them — same teammate, same place in your workflow, growing capability. Your practice already has enough vendors to manage.

How Avery joins your practice

Two weeks to go live. No IT lift required.

We come to you, map how your front desk works today, and Avery is verifying your schedule inside two weeks. Deeper integrations may take longer depending on vendor responsiveness.

    WEEK 0

Kickoff call. We map your schedule, EHR + PM system, payor mix, and exactly how your front desk marks a patient verified today.

  2. 02

    Provision

    WEEK 1

We provision Avery in your systems and wire it to your exact statuses — so cleared patients show up right where your team already looks.

    WEEK 2

Avery runs in shadow mode for a few days, then takes the schedule. Your team handles exceptions — Avery handles the rest.

Pay for results, not software.

FAQ

Automated insurance verification, answered.

Does Avery work with our EHR and practice management (PM) system?

Yes. Avery reads your schedule and the insurance fields it needs from your EHR and PM system, then writes the verified result back into the exact status field your front desk already uses. We confirm what's supported for your systems on the kickoff call.

How deep does the integration go — does Avery write back into our system?

You choose the depth. Most practices use write-back, where Avery posts verified status and benefits straight into your system. You can also start with a worklist your team enters, or hand Avery full clearance. Change depth anytime; no contract waiting period.

What patient data can Avery access?

Only what the job needs: the schedule, the patient's insurance plan and member ID, and the status field it writes back to. Avery doesn't touch clinical notes, billing, or patient messages, and access is scoped separately for each skill.

What happens when Avery isn't sure, or gets something wrong?

Anything Avery can't answer cleanly is flagged with the reason and routed to your team, never guessed. Every check is saved with the payer response and Avery's reasoning so you can review any answer, and hand-off rules are tuned when something's wrong.

Is Avery HIPAA compliant, and will you sign a BAA?

Yes. HIPAA safeguards are in place and we sign a BAA before kickoff. There's an audit trail on every access, your data is never used to train shared models, and we'll send a security overview to your IT or compliance reviewer ahead of signing.

How long does it take to go live?

About two weeks: a discovery call, provisioning, a few days of shadow mode, then go-live. Your office manager spends roughly two hours total and no IT team is needed. Deeper integrations can take longer if a vendor is slow to grant access.

How much does automated insurance verification cost?

$4 per completed check — a coverage answer with benefits written to the chart. No subscriptions, per-seat fees, or monthly minimum. A one-time $2,500 implementation fee is invoiced only at go-live, and checks the payer can't answer are free.

Can we pause or cancel anytime?

Yes. No multi-year contract and no minimums. Because you pay per completed check, slowing or stopping lowers your bill automatically, and you can pause completely while we keep your setup ready.
