Meet Dr. Robert Sharpe
About Me
R. Allan Sharpe, M.D. is a board-certified ophthalmologist who specializes in cataract and glaucoma surgery. He offers advanced technology cataract surgery and has a special interest in minimally invasive glaucoma surgery, providing patients with the latest surgical options.
Dr. Sharpe attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he studied Romance Languages with minors in Chemistry and Music, graduating with honors and induction into the Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society. He earned his medical degree from the Medical University of South Carolina, where he was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society. He completed his ophthalmology residency at MUSC's Storm Eye Institute, receiving the William W. Vallotton Award for academic excellence, and then pursued fellowship training in glaucoma and cataract surgery at the Baylor College of Medicine's Cullen Eye Institute.
Dr. Sharpe actively participates in research to develop improved glaucoma treatments and has authored numerous research papers and textbook chapters. He is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and is a member of the American Glaucoma Society and the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, ensuring he stays at the forefront of his field.
