About Me
Dr. Kristin Bains specializes in comprehensive ophthalmology with an emphasis on the anterior segment of the eye. Her practice focuses on treating refractive errors such as nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism, as well as cataracts and various corneal diseases. She is skilled in performing advanced procedures to address these conditions.
A Birmingham native, Dr. Bains completed her undergraduate education at Washington and Lee University and earned her medical degree from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. She underwent residency training in ophthalmology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham and Callahan Eye Foundation Hospital, where she served as chief resident. She further honed her expertise through a fellowship in cornea, external disease, cataract, and refractive surgery at the Cullen Eye Institute, Baylor College of Medicine.
Dr. Bains is a member of several professional organizations including the American Academy of Ophthalmology and has been recognized as one of the Best Doctors in America. She is committed to providing up-to-date care for her patients through her involvement in research and clinical practice.
