Dr. Katherine Ochsner

Katherine I. Ochsner, M.D. is a board-certified ophthalmologist and fellowship-trained glaucoma specialist who also has extensive experience as a cataract surgeon. Her practice focuses on the diagnosis and medical and surgical treatment of all forms of glaucoma, cataract, and associated ocular conditions. She performs a range of procedures including selective laser trabeculoplasty, laser peripheral iridotomy, trabeculectomy, tube shunt procedures, iStent implantation, and laser-assisted cataract surgery.

Dr. Ochsner earned her medical degree from Louisiana State University Medical School, completed her general ophthalmology training at the University of Louisville, and pursued subspecialty training in glaucoma at the University of Texas. She later served on the faculty at the University of Texas as Director of Glaucoma Services and Fellowship training for nearly a decade. She moved to Wilmington in 2000 and opened Ochsner Eye in 2014.

Dr. Ochsner has introduced numerous advanced procedures to the region, including being the first in Wilmington to combine minimally invasive glaucoma procedures with cataract surgery. She continues to participate in national educational programs and clinical research, bringing the newest medical, laser, and surgical techniques to her patients.
