Dr. David Sanders

Dr. David S. Sanders is a board-certified ophthalmologist who was named one of Portland’s Top Doctors in 2024 by Portland Monthly Magazine. He views every patient encounter as a wonderful opportunity to get to know each patient and to improve the quality of their life through optimizing their vision. Dr. Sanders strives to understand each patient’s individual eye problems and fully address them along with putting in place a comprehensive plan for preventive eye health in the future.

As a fellowship-trained glaucoma specialist, Dr. Sanders has expertise in the medical and surgical management of glaucoma, including performing specialized procedures such as trabeculectomy and tube shunt surgeries. He is skilled in complex and routine cataract surgeries and also enjoys caring for patients with general ophthalmology problems, such as diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, and dry eye syndrome.

Dr. Sanders received his M.D. and a Master of Public Health degree from Oregon Health & Science University and completed his ophthalmology training at the University of Michigan and a glaucoma fellowship at OHSU and Legacy Devers Eye Institute. He is conversational in Spanish, Portuguese, and French, which aids in communicating with diverse patients.
