About Me
Dr. David R. Lally is a retina specialist and the Director of the Retina Research Institute at New England Retina Consultants. He also serves as a Clinical Assistant Professor at UMass Chan Medical School-Baystate, bringing academic expertise to his practice. His medical training includes a degree from Sidney Kimmel Medical College, residency at Wills Eye Hospital, and a vitreoretinal fellowship at Tufts School of Medicine/Ophthalmic Consultants of Boston.
Dr. Lally is a leading clinical researcher focused on innovative treatments for retinal diseases, particularly macular degeneration. He has served as an investigator for over 70 clinical trials and authored more than 40 peer-reviewed articles. He was a key advisor in developing the first two FDA-approved therapies for geographic atrophy. His contributions are recognized through honors like the Fellow of the American Society of Retinal Specialists award and selection to Ophthalmology Management's 40 Under 40 list in 2022.
Dr. Lally's clinical interests include geographic atrophy, macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, retinal vein occlusion, complex retinal detachment repair, macular hole, epiretinal membrane, and complications from cataract surgery. He is frequently invited to speak at national and international meetings, sharing his expertise with the broader medical community.
