About Me
Charles DeBoer, MD, PhD, is a vitreoretinal surgeon at Stanford Health Care’s Byers Eye Institute. He cares for adults with diseases of the retina and macula, offering both medical therapies and advanced retinal surgery tailored to each patient’s goals. Patients see him for conditions such as diabetic retinopathy, retinal detachment, macular holes and puckers, retinal vein occlusions, and age-related macular degeneration. Dr. DeBoer is committed to educating the next generation of retina specialists and remains active in research. His engineering and biomedical background informs work on implantable devices, extended drug delivery and microsurgical instrumentation, including a co-invented biomimetic accommodating intraocular lens.
