Dr. Amanda Ismail
Ophthalmology – Pediatric Eye Specialist
About Me
Dr. Amanda Ismail is a board-certified pediatric ophthalmologist and adult strabismus surgeon. She cares for children with common and complex vision problems—including strabismus, congenital cataracts, and pediatric glaucoma—and also treats adults with double vision and eye misalignment. Dr. Ismail’s approach balances surgical expertise with family-centered education so parents and caregivers know what to expect before, during, and after treatment. She is committed to multidisciplinary care for ocular disease related to systemic and genetic conditions, and has particular experience with pediatric uveitis and retinopathy of prematurity. In addition to her clinical practice, she teaches pediatric ophthalmology fellows and ophthalmology residents from several Detroit-area training programs. Dr. Ismail earned her medical degree at Wayne State University, completed ophthalmology residency at Kresge Eye Institute, and pursued fellowship training in pediatric ophthalmology at Children’s Hospital of Michigan. She sees patients across Children’s Eye Care offices in Clinton Township, Dearborn, Detroit, and West Bloomfield.
