About Me

Dr. Zafar Gill is a retinal specialist joining the Retina & Vitreous Center of Southern Oregon in September 2025. He earned his medical degree from New York Medical College and completed an ophthalmology residency followed by a specialized vitreoretinal surgical fellowship at the Sue Anschutz-Rodgers Eye Center at the University of Colorado. Before medical training, he studied at UCLA’s College of Honors and began publishing in vision science. Dr. Gill cares for patients with the full spectrum of macular and retinal disease, including age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, retinal detachment, retinopathy of prematurity, and other complex vitreoretinal conditions. His academic interests include advancing treatments through clinical trials and improving access and outcomes for patients. He has authored first-author publications and presented at national and international meetings. Patients can expect careful diagnostics, clearly explained options, and evidence-based treatment in collaboration with the practice’s imaging and surgical teams.
