Dr. Ukeme Umana

Dr. Ukeme Umana is an ophthalmologist at Marion Eye Center, where he treats a variety of eye conditions including cataracts, glaucoma, and corneal diseases. After graduating from Northwestern University Medical School and completing his residency in ophthalmology at Mayo Clinic, he joined Marion Eye Center in 1989.

Dr. Umana specializes in LASIK and other refractive procedures to reduce dependence on glasses or contact lenses, having performed over 15,000 LASIK procedures. He was the first in Southern Illinois to have a permanent laser installed. He also performs implantable Collamer lens (ICL) surgery for high myopia and advanced corneal procedures such as DSAEK, DMEK, and PKP transplants, as well as corneal cross-linking and CTAK for keratoconus.

Dedicated to global eye health, Dr. Umana provides surgical and medical eye care and training in Nigeria, Liberia, and Mali, having conducted over 20 missions to these countries.
