About Me
Dr. Sidney “Sid” Schechet is a board-certified retina specialist with Elman Retina Group, providing both medical and surgical care for retinal and vitreous diseases. He treats common and complex conditions such as age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy and macular edema, epiretinal membranes, macular holes, and retinal detachment.
Dr. Schechet earned his medical degree from Baylor College of Medicine and completed ophthalmology residency at the University of Maryland, where he served as chief resident. He then completed a two-year retina fellowship at The University of Chicago. His clinical approach focuses on careful diagnosis, clear communication, and personalized treatment plans that may include retinal laser, injections, or vitrectomy surgery when appropriate. He has contributed to retina research and book chapters, and he enjoys helping patients protect vision and stay active in the activities they value.
