About Me
Dr. Robert G. Barone is a board-certified, fellowship-trained vitreoretinal surgeon who has been with Eye Physicians of Sussex County since 1996. He earned his bachelor's degree in chemistry and his medical degree from Georgetown University. He completed a medical internship and an ophthalmology residency at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, followed by two years of general ophthalmology practice in New York. Dr. Barone then pursued advanced training through a medical retinal and electrophysiology fellowship at New York University and a second fellowship in surgical retinal and ocular trauma at New York Hospital – Cornell Medical Center.
Dr. Barone currently focuses on the treatment of diabetic retinopathy, retinal detachments, and macular degeneration. He serves as a clinical instructor of ophthalmology at Rutgers Medical School and is a member of several professional societies, including the American Society of Vitreoretinal Specialists and the American Academy of Ophthalmology.
