About Me
Dr. Richard Bryan is a retina specialist and vitreoretinal surgeon at Janigian Retina Associates in Providence, Rhode Island. He also serves as a Clinical Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology at Brown University, where he contributes to teaching the next generation of ophthalmologists. Dr. Bryan specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of a wide range of vitreoretinal diseases, including retinal detachments, diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, macular holes, epiretinal membranes, and vitreous hemorrhages.
Dr. Bryan graduated Phi Beta Kappa with high honors from Duke University and earned a combined MD and PhD from the Medical Scientist Training Program at Baylor College of Medicine. He completed a rotating internship at Baylor, followed by an ophthalmology residency at the University of Wisconsin at Madison, and a fellowship in vitreoretinal disease at Columbia and Manhattan Eye and Ear Infirmary in New York.
Dr. Bryan is actively involved in teaching at Rhode Island Hospital and has received a teaching award from the residents. He serves as president of the Rhode Island Society of Eye Physicians and Surgeons (RISEPS) and is a longtime member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology.
