Dr. Omesh Gupta

Dr. Omesh P. Gupta is a board-certified ophthalmologist and retina specialist at Mid Atlantic Retina. He completed his ophthalmology residency and vitreoretinal fellowship at Wills Eye Hospital, where he was selected to serve as Chief Resident and received the Heed Ophthalmic Foundation Fellowship Award and Ronald G. Michels Retinal Fellowship Foundation Award. Dr. Gupta previously served as Assistant Clinical Professor of Ophthalmology at Temple University Hospital, acting as Co-Director of Research and serving on the Surgical Safety Committee.

Dr. Gupta's clinical expertise includes advanced treatments for age-related macular degeneration, macular hole, macular pucker, diabetic retinopathy complications, complex retinal detachments, complications of cataract surgery, retinal vascular disease, and ocular infection and inflammation. He is an active member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, Retina Society, American Society of Retinal Specialists, Greater Philadelphia Ophthalmic Society, Society of Heed Fellows, Wills Eye Hospital Alumni Society, and Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology.

He has been awarded numerous research grants from local and national organizations, including the National Institutes of Health. Dr. Gupta serves on the editorial board of New Retina MD and Evidence-Based Ophthalmology and has authored numerous articles and book chapters. His research interests include age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, retinal vascular disease, vitreoretinal surgery, teleophthalmology, and value-based medicine.
