After completing a six-year combined BA/MD program, he pursued internship training in Indianapolis, ophthalmology residency at the University of Alabama, and a medical and surgical retina fellowship with Associated Retina Consultants in Arizona, where he now practices. He is passionate about service and previously led fundraising and clinic operations for the Kansas City Free Eye Clinic, supporting eye care for individuals experiencing homelessness. In clinic and the operating room, Dr. Patel treats macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, retinal tears and detachment, epiretinal membranes, macular holes, and inherited and inflammatory retinal diseases. Dr. Alexander R. Shusko is an ophthalmologist with focused expertise in uveitis and ocular inflammatory disease at Mayo Clinic in Phoenix, Arizona.
