About Me
Dr. Suhail Alam is a board-certified ophthalmologist specializing in the medical and surgical treatment of the retina and vitreous. Since joining Barnet Dulaney Perkins Eye Center in 2006, he has performed over 12,000 major retinal surgeries. His clinical expertise includes age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, retinal detachments, and other complex vitreoretinal conditions. He remains at the forefront of his field, integrating the latest advancements such as gene therapy into patient care.
Dr. Alam earned his medical degree from the University of Cincinnati, where he also completed his ophthalmology residency and served as Chief Resident. He further honed his skills through a prestigious fellowship in vitreoretinal surgery at the University of California – Davis. Scoring in the 99th percentile on his board exams, he is deeply involved in national and international research trials aimed at advancing retinal care and developing cutting-edge therapies.
Outside of his professional life, Dr. Alam enjoys spending time with his wife and three children. He has a passion for photography, calligraphy, studying ancient history, and experimenting with the latest gadgets and technologies.
