About Me
Dr. Brian Horsman is a highly experienced retinal specialist with over four decades of clinical and surgical experience. He has performed more than 13,000 retinal surgeries and hundreds of thousands of laser procedures, focusing on complex retinal conditions such as retinal detachments, diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, pediatric retinal disease, ocular trauma, and complications from cataract surgery. Dr. Horsman was an early adopter of advanced surgical techniques including Pars Plana Vitrectomy, intravitreous gas, silicone oil tamponade, and Micropulse laser therapy.
Currently, Dr. Horsman serves as the Director of the Retinal Department at Barnet Dulaney Perkins Eye Center, where he leads a team of six retinal surgeons. He continues to focus on laser surgery and intravitreal injections for macular disease and offers second opinions and collaborative care for referring doctors. His leadership has helped modernize the surgical treatment of retinal and vitreous diseases in both Canada and the United States.
Dr. Horsman's medical training includes a medical degree from Dalhousie University and a retina fellowship at the University of Wisconsin–Madison. He is a member of professional societies such as the American Society of Retinal Specialists and has contributed to the field through presentations and innovations in retinal imaging and surgery.
