About Me
Dr. Leon Charkoudian is a board-certified ophthalmologist and a fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Society of Retinal Specialists. He serves as the head of Cape Fear Retina's clinical research program and has been the principal investigator on several national clinical trials. Dr. Charkoudian provides specialized care for conditions of the retina and vitreous, including vitreous hemorrhage and other retinal disorders.
After completing his undergraduate studies at Cornell University, Dr. Charkoudian earned his medical degree from the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. He completed his ophthalmology residency at the University of Pennsylvania and pursued fellowship training in vitreoretinal surgery at the Emory Eye Center in Atlanta, Georgia. He is licensed to practice in North Carolina and South Carolina.
Dr. Charkoudian's practice focuses on diagnosing and treating a wide range of retinal conditions, utilizing advanced surgical and medical approaches to help preserve and restore vision.
