Dr. Robert Brownlow

Dr. Robert L. Brownlow Jr. is a board-certified ophthalmologist specializing in vitreoretinal surgery. He provides care for patients with retinal conditions at Cape Fear Retina in Wilmington, North Carolina. Dr. Brownlow is a fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Society of Retinal Specialists. He has been recognized by his peers as one of the Best Doctors in America from 2009 through 2013.

Dr. Brownlow earned his bachelor's degree in chemistry/business from High Point College and his medical degree from Bowman Gray School of Medicine of Wake Forest University. He completed an internship in general surgery and a residency in ophthalmology at Washington Hospital Center, followed by a fellowship in vitreoretinal surgery at Cornell University Medical Center. Dr. Brownlow has extensive experience in private practice in Virginia and North Carolina.
