About Me

Dr. Kirk Sturridge is a board certified ophthalmologist who has been in private practice in the Dothan area for over five years. He specializes in glaucoma and cataract surgery and has personally performed thousands of eye surgeries for diverse eye conditions. Dr. Sturridge provides comprehensive eye care, from routine check-ups to eye trauma care and disease management. He has been recognized as one of America’s Top Ophthalmologists by the Consumers’ Research Council of America.

Dr. Sturridge received his medical degree from the University of the West Indies, Jamaica and completed an internship in Internal Medicine at the University Hospital of the West Indies. He then completed a second internship in Internal Medicine at the State University of New York (SUNY) Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn, followed by his residency in Ophthalmology at SUNY Downstate Medical Center. During his residency, he served as Administrative Chief Resident for the Department of Ophthalmology and represented the New York State Ophthalmological Society as a Healthcare Lobbyist. He also served as a Clinical Assistant Instructor of SUNY Downstate medical students.

In 2009, Dr. Sturridge accepted a fellowship in the subspecialty of Glaucoma at the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics in Iowa City, under the tutelage of top-ranking glaucoma specialists. This training included innovative techniques such as selective laser trabeculoplasty, trabectome surgery, and complex cataract surgeries. He is certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and holds medical licensure in Alabama, Florida, and Georgia. He is a member of the medical staff at Flowers Hospital in Dothan and maintains professional memberships with the American Academy of Ophthalmology, American Glaucoma Society, American Medical Association, and Alabama Academy of Ophthalmology.
