Dr. Kevin Elwood is a vitreoretinal surgeon in training at Illinois Retina Associates who cares for adults with medical and surgical diseases of the retina, macula, and vitreous. He enjoys partnering with patients to explain diagnoses clearly, review treatment options, and map out step-by-step plans that fit their goals and schedules. Originally from the Chicago area, Dr. Elwood completed medical school at The University of Texas Dell Medical School, where his research focused on tele-retinal screening for diabetic retinopathy. He went on to ophthalmology residency at the University of Wisconsin–Madison and is now advancing his skills in vitreoretinal surgery with the team at Illinois Retina Associates and Rush University Medical Center. Outside clinic, he loves cheering for the Longhorns and Bears and spending time with his family.
