Dr. Kevin Chen

Dr. Kevin C. Chen is a retinal specialist who provides comprehensive medical and surgical care for diseases of the retina and vitreous. After graduating with highest honors in molecular, cellular, and developmental biology from UCLA, he earned his medical degree at New York University School of Medicine. He completed ophthalmology residency at NYU Langone Medical Center and Manhattan Eye, Ear & Throat Hospital, where he served as chief resident, followed by a fellowship in vitreoretinal surgery and disease at the Shiley Eye Institute, University of California San Diego. During fellowship he was a Clinical Instructor at UCSD and a Staff Physician at the San Diego VA.Patients see Dr. Chen for conditions such as macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, retinal tears and detachments, macular holes, and epiretinal membranes. He combines advanced imaging with minimally invasive techniques and emphasizes clear, empathetic communication so each person understands their diagnosis and treatment options.
