About Me
Dr. Kevin Chen is an ophthalmologist and retinal specialist who joined Vantage Eye Center in 2018. He completed his undergraduate education at the University of California Los Angeles, graduating summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa with a degree in Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology. He earned his medical degree from New York University School of Medicine and then completed his ophthalmology residency at New York University Langone Medical Center and Manhattan Eye, Ear and Throat Hospital, where he served as chief resident and was recognized for academic excellence.
Following residency, Dr. Chen returned to California for a fellowship in vitreoretinal surgery and disease at the Shiley Eye Institute at the University of California San Diego. During his fellowship, he held appointments as a Clinical Instructor at UCSD and as a Staff Physician at the San Diego Veteran’s Administration Hospital, where he was directly involved in training residents. He is an active member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Society of Retina Specialists, and the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology.
Dr. Chen has presented his research at national conferences and has published in prestigious journals such as the American Journal of Ophthalmology, Survey of Ophthalmology, and Retina. In his free time, he enjoys photography, traveling, hiking, running, and spending time with his family.
