About Me
Joseph “Jamie” Raevis, M.D., is a retina specialist and vitreoretinal surgeon at Monmouth Retina, serving patients in Little Silver and throughout Monmouth County.
Dr. Raevis graduated with the highest distinction of summa cum laude from The College of New Jersey and earned his medical degree at Georgetown University. He completed his ophthalmology residency at State University of New York (SUNY) Downstate, where he served as Chief Resident, followed by a vitreoretinal fellowship at the University of Wisconsin–Madison. Before joining Monmouth Retina, he was the Director of Vitreoretinal Surgery at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and a clinical instructor at Harvard Medical School. He has also lectured at Massachusetts Eye and Ear/Harvard Ophthalmology, the Joslin Diabetes Center, and his alma maters.
Dr. Raevis is skilled in a wide range of retinal surgeries, including vitrectomy, scleral buckle, pneumatic retinopexy, macular hole repair, and complex retinal detachment repair. He also performs intravitreal injections, cataract surgery, and places radioactive plaques for ocular melanoma. He is committed to guiding patients through their treatment with clear communication. Outside the clinic, he enjoys hiking, camping, rock climbing, canoeing, and astronomy with his family.
