About Me
Dr. Konstantin Astafurov is a fellowship-trained retina specialist at Monmouth Retina. He provides comprehensive medical and surgical care for diseases of the macula, retina, and vitreous. Dr. Astafurov completed a medical retina fellowship at the Mayo Clinic and a two-year surgical retina fellowship at NJRetina/Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School after ophthalmology residency at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University and internship at Maimonides Medical Center. He earned both his MD and PhD at SUNY Downstate, where his doctoral work explored inflammation’s effects on the retina and optic nerve. Patients appreciate his combination of scientific rigor and practical, patient-first communication. He collaborates closely with referring providers to coordinate timely treatment and long-term follow-up that protects vision.
