About Me

Dr. John Chancellor is a board-certified ophthalmologist and Assistant Professor in the Division of Vitreoretinal Diseases & Surgery at Baylor College of Medicine. He is a vitreoretinal surgeon who cares for people with both common and complex diseases of the back of the eye.

In clinic, he focuses on clear communication and practical next steps so patients understand their diagnosis and treatment options. His clinical and surgical interests include age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, and retinal detachment repair. He collaborates closely with comprehensive ophthalmologists and endocrinology and primary care teams to coordinate care.

He also serves veterans as a staff ophthalmologist at the VA Medical Center. His research interests include surgical outcomes in diabetic retinopathy and inherited retinal diseases.
