About Me
Dr. John B. Saer is a retina specialist whose practice is dedicated to diseases and surgery of the vitreous, macula, and retina. He treats a wide range of vitreoretinal conditions, including diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, retinal detachment, macular hole, and retinal vein occlusion. In-office procedures include retinal photography, OCT scanning, intravitreal injections, retinal laser treatments, and photodynamic therapy. Surgical cases are performed at East Jefferson Hospital, typically under local anesthesia with conscious sedation.
Dr. Saer completed a two-year retina fellowship at Tulane University Affiliated Hospitals, where he trained under James G. Diamond, M.D. He also completed his ophthalmology residency, internship in medicine, and medical school at Tulane University. He is board certified in ophthalmology and holds memberships in the American Society of Retina Specialists and the American Academy of Ophthalmology.
