About Me
Dr. Jody Abrams is a board-certified ophthalmologist who specializes in neuro-ophthalmology and oculoplastic surgery. He focuses on complex visual problems and conditions affecting the eyes and surrounding tissues, having chosen to concentrate exclusively on these areas after giving up cataract, refractive, and glaucoma treatments. Dr. Abrams is known for taking the time to explain complicated situations in simple terms, helping patients understand their conditions.
He completed his ophthalmology residency at LSU Health Science Center in Shreveport, where he also served as chief resident. Dr. Abrams then pursued a fellowship in oculoplastic and neuro-ophthalmology under the guidance of Dr. Thomas Spoor in Detroit. He has been practicing in Sarasota since joining the Sarasota Retina Institute in 2011.
Dr. Abrams has a particular interest in dry eye and tearing problems, and he performs a range of surgical and non-surgical treatments for conditions such as double vision, optic nerve disorders, and eyelid abnormalities. He is committed to providing personalized care for patients with neuro-ophthalmologic and oculoplastic issues.
