Dr. Howard Cummings

Dr. Howard L. Cummings is a board-certified ophthalmologist and retina specialist at Southeastern Retina Associates in Kingsport, Tennessee. He provides care for patients with a wide range of retinal and vitreous conditions, including retinal detachments, diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, and macular holes. Dr. Cummings brings extensive training and experience to his practice, having completed a vitreoretinal disease and surgery fellowship after his ophthalmology residency.

Dr. Cummings earned his medical degree from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in 1987 and completed an internal medicine internship at Boston University Medical Center. He then completed a three-year ophthalmology residency at Greater Baltimore Medical Center and a postgraduate fellowship in retina and vitreous at Retina and Vitreous Associates of Kentucky. He also studied ophthalmic pathology at the Wilmer Institute of Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine.

With a commitment to providing expert care for retinal disorders, Dr. Cummings has been serving the Tri-Cities region since 1999 when he joined Southeastern Retina Associates. He offers his services at multiple locations throughout Tennessee and Virginia.
