Dr. Mark Kleinman is a board-certified ophthalmologist specializing in retina and vitreous diseases at Southeastern Retina Associates. He serves patients in the Tri-cities area of Tennessee and South Virginia, with clinics in Kingsport, Johnson City, Bristol, and Abingdon. As a vitreoretinal surgeon, he focuses on treating conditions like age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, and retinal detachments.
Dr. Kleinman is actively involved in groundbreaking research, particularly in age-related macular degeneration, where he co-discovered key inflammatory mediators. His work has been published in top journals such as the New England Journal of Medicine, Science, and Nature. He has received prestigious awards including the AUPO/RPB Resident Research Forum Award and the Evangelos S. Gragoudas Award.
