About Me
Dr. Hong-Uyen Hua is a vitreoretinal surgeon who cares for both adult and pediatric patients with medical and surgical diseases of the retina and vitreous. She is an assistant professor of clinical ophthalmology and a board-certified pediatric and adult retina specialist. Dr. Hua is committed to thoughtful, team-based care and enjoys guiding families through complex conditions with clear communication and evidence-based treatment plans. Her clinical interests include age-related macular degeneration, inherited retinal dystrophies, and diabetic eye disease, and she integrates advanced imaging and, when appropriate, genetic testing into personalized care.
After earning her medical degree at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, Dr. Hua completed an ophthalmology residency at the USC Roski Eye Institute and a fellowship in vitreoretinal surgery at the Cleveland Clinic Cole Eye Institute. She values innovation and education, has presented and published on retinal disease, and prioritizes access to high-quality care across all ages. Her research interests include vitreoretinal imaging, retinopathy of prematurity, medical education, and health disparities.
