About Me
Dr. Gaetano Barile is an ophthalmologist specializing in surgical retina and vitreoretinal diseases. He serves as Professor of Ophthalmology at the Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell and Director of Ophthalmology Research at Manhattan Eye, Ear and Throat Hospital. Previously, he held the John Wilson Espy MD Professor of Clinical Ophthalmology and Glaubinger Scholar in Retina Research at Columbia University.
Dr. Barile treats a wide range of retinal conditions, including diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, retinal detachment, macular hole, epiretinal membrane, retinal vein occlusion, retinal artery occlusion, vitreomacular traction, vitreous floaters, and myopic retinal degeneration. He has authored numerous publications and is a member of professional societies such as the Macula and Retina Societies. He has received an Achievement Award from the American Academy of Ophthalmology and a Senior Honor Award from the American Society of Retina Specialists.
