About Me
Dr. DiLoreto is a retina specialist who practices surgical and medical retina at the Flaum Eye Institute. He serves as Chair of Ophthalmology at the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry and Director of the Flaum Eye Institute. His clinical interests include diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, and retinal vein occlusion, and he is actively involved in clinical research, including stem cell transplantation to restore vision. He earned his medical degree and doctorate in neuroanatomy from the University of Rochester, completed residency in ophthalmology at the University of Southern California, and fellowship training in medical and surgical retina at Johns Hopkins. He then returned to Rochester where he joined the ophthalmology faculty and developed a productive clinical practice.
Dr. DiLoreto has a keen interest in clinical research, including stem cell transplantation with the ARIA team to restore vision. He has published extensively in ophthalmology journals and has received numerous awards, including being named to the Retina 150 list of innovators in medical and surgical retina. Patients appreciate his thorough explanations and compassionate care.
He sees patients at the Flaum Eye Institute main campus in Rochester, as well as in Webster and Geneva.
