About Me
Dr. Christopher Jermak is a board-certified ophthalmologist and vitreo-retinal surgeon who specializes in medical and surgical diseases of the retina, vitreous, and macula. His clinical expertise includes macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, retinal detachment, ocular trauma, and vitreoretinal interface disorders such as epiretinal membrane and macular hole. He is also skilled in managing complications from anterior segment surgery and vascular diseases of the retina.
Dr. Jermak is a published researcher with interests in advanced surgical techniques, including small-gauge sutureless vitrectomy, and novel drug delivery methods for retinal conditions. His research focuses on improving outcomes for patients with diabetic retinopathy, age-related macular degeneration, and ocular infections.
He completed his undergraduate studies at Indiana University and earned his medical degree from Tulane University. He then completed an ophthalmology residency at Tulane Health Sciences Center, followed by a vitreo-retinal surgical fellowship at both Tulane Health Sciences Center and the University of Texas. Dr. Jermak is a member of several professional societies, including the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology.
