About Me
Dr. Carlos Diaz is a board-certified ophthalmologist with advanced expertise in cataract surgery, offering modern intraocular lenses that correct presbyopia and astigmatism. He also performs LASIK and PRK for refractive vision correction. Dr. Diaz is skilled in state-of-the-art pterygium surgery, focusing on superior cosmetic outcomes and reduced recurrence rates. In the field of glaucoma management, he has extensive experience with procedures including SLT laser treatment, Ex-Press Mini Shunt, Canaloplasty, iStent, and Goniotomy.
Dr. Diaz earned his Bachelor of Science degree magna cum laude from Western Michigan University and his medical degree from Northwestern University. His postgraduate training included an internship at St. Mary’s Hospital, an ophthalmology residency at Case Western Reserve University, and a two-year fellowship in ocular pathology and research at Emory University. He is certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and serves as an assistant professor at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, where he teaches and mentors ophthalmology residents.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Diaz enjoys high-performance driving and is an avid fan of Formula 1 racing. He cherishes spending time with his wife and two children, who share his passion for cars and racing. Dr. Diaz is fluent in Spanish and provides personalized care to a diverse patient population.
