About Me

Dr. Allison J. Chen, MD, MPH is a cornea, cataract, and refractive surgeon who pairs advanced technology with highly personalized surgical planning. She specializes in cataract surgery with astigmatism-correcting and presbyopia-correcting IOLs, LASIK/PRK, and the medical and surgical management of corneal disease—including crosslinking for keratoconus and endothelial keratoplasty for Fuchs dystrophy and other endothelial disorders.

Dr. Chen completed ophthalmology residency at UC San Diego’s Shiley Eye Institute and a cornea, anterior segment, and refractive fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine. A graduate of Brown’s combined BA/MD program, she has authored numerous publications and has been recognized with national awards for clinical excellence and innovation. Patients appreciate her transparent counseling and goal-oriented approach to vision; from lens selection to recovery, she helps each person understand trade-offs and choose the plan that best fits how they use their eyes every day.
