Dr. Sumitra Khandelwal is a board-certified ophthalmologist and Professor of Ophthalmology at Baylor College of Medicine's Cullen Eye Institute. She also serves as Medical Director for the Lions Eye Bank of Texas. Her clinical practice is centered on advanced surgical treatments of the cornea and lens, including corneal transplantation, cataract surgery, and refractive procedures such as LASIK.
Dr. Khandelwal has particular expertise in managing complex conditions like keratoconus and ectasia after LASIK. She is actively involved in clinical research and national education, chairing the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery Complex Cataract Surgery Committee and serving on the American Academy of Ophthalmology cataract committee.
