About Me
Dr. William M. Carrera is a board-certified retina specialist providing comprehensive medical and surgical care for diseases of the retina, vitreous, and macula. His clinical practice encompasses age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, retinal vascular occlusions, macular pucker and hole, flashes and floaters, and retinal tears and detachments. He offers in-office therapies and advanced vitreoretinal surgery tailored to each patient’s goals and diagnosis.
Dr. Carrera graduated with honors in History and Biology from the University of Chicago and earned an MS in Physiology and Biophysics from Georgetown University. He received his medical degree from Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine, completed an ophthalmology residency at California Pacific Medical Center—earning resident research awards—and pursued fellowship training in vitreoretinal disease and surgery with Ophthalmic Consultants of Boston in collaboration with Tufts University’s New England Eye Center.
