About Me
Dr. Vasilios Frank Diakonis is a surgeon ophthalmologist specializing in cataract, corneal, and refractive surgery. He provides advanced clinical and surgical care for a range of anterior segment conditions, including keratoconus, corneal diseases, and ocular surface disorders. His international training and focus on modern techniques allow him to offer comprehensive solutions for patients seeking vision correction and treatment of complex eye conditions.
Dr. Diakonis completed his medical degree at the University of Crete and his ophthalmology residency at the University Hospital of Heraklion. He further specialized through a clinical fellowship in Cornea and External Diseases at the top-ranked Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in the United States. He has served as a voluntary assistant professor and instructor at Bascom Palmer, contributing to surgical education and research.
Currently, Dr. Diakonis serves as the head of the anterior segment department at Metropolitan Hospital. He performs procedures such as laser-assisted cataract surgery and corneal cross-linking for keratoconus. With over 90 scientific publications and recognition as a leading keratoconus surgeon by the National Keratoconus Foundation, he integrates the latest research into his patient care.
