About Me
Dr. Louis Michaelos is a third-generation ophthalmologist at St. Michael’s Eye & Laser Institute, inspired by seeing how restored vision can change a patient’s life. He provides comprehensive, lifelong eye care while using innovative techniques to help protect and preserve sight.
He earned a biology degree from Stetson University and completed his osteopathic medical training at Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale. Dr. Michaelos finished ophthalmology residency at Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine, serving as chief resident, and then completed a Cornea and Refractive Surgery fellowship at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He is board certified through the American Osteopathic Board of Ophthalmology.
Clinically, Dr. Michaelos specializes in corneal transplantation, LASIK and PRK, refractive lens exchange, anterior segment reconstruction, and advanced cataract surgery. Patients appreciate his clear explanations, attention to detail, and commitment to improving comfort and outcomes at every visit.
