Dr. Todd Heilskov

Dr. Heilskov is a retired ophthalmologist who co-founded Iowa Retina Consultants, the first full-service private vitreoretinal group practice in Iowa. He completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Iowa and earned his medical degree from the University of Iowa College of Medicine, where he graduated in the top five percent of his class. Dr. Heilskov completed an internship in Tucson, Arizona, followed by an ophthalmology residency at Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in Miami, Florida, and a two-year vitreoretinal fellowship at the University of Iowa.

During his career, Dr. Heilskov served as President of the Iowa Academy of Ophthalmology and was appointed by Governor Branstad to a state-wide healthcare reform committee. He also published articles in peer-reviewed ophthalmology journals and instructed colleagues at national and state conferences.

Dr. Heilskov retired from practice at Iowa Retina Consultants in August 2025.
