About Me
Dr. Christopher Haupert is a vitreoretinal specialist providing care for a range of retinal conditions, including age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, retinal detachment, and macular holes. He has particular expertise in the surgical management of submacular hemorrhage, having been lead author on a landmark study describing a vitrectomy technique using subretinal tissue plasminogen activator. Dr. Haupert is committed to advanced retinal care and surgical treatment.
Dr. Haupert completed his vitreoretinal fellowship at Duke University and his ophthalmology residency at Emory University, where he served as Chief Resident. He has held leadership positions including President of the Iowa Academy of Ophthalmology and has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals. He is fluent in Spanish and sees patients at locations throughout Iowa.
