Dr. Sumit Shah

Dr. Sumit P. Shah is a retina specialist and vitreoretinal surgeon at NJRetina, where he has been serving patients since 2013. He is board-certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and focuses on diagnosing and treating retinal conditions. Dr. Shah completed his residency in ophthalmology at UCLA's Jules Stein Eye Institute and a two-year medical and surgical retina fellowship at Tufts New England Eye Center and Ophthalmic Consultants of Boston.

With experience as a principal investigator or sub-investigator in over 40 clinical trials, Dr. Shah is involved in emerging therapies for macular degeneration, diabetic eye disease, and retinal vein occlusion. He has substantial expertise in complex vitreoretinal surgery. Dr. Shah is an active member of the American Society of Retina Specialists and the Retina Society, and he serves as an oral examiner for the American Board of Ophthalmology.
