About Me
Dr. H. Matthew Wheatley is a retina specialist and vitreoretinal surgeon at NJRetina, where he has been practicing since 2000. He treats a broad spectrum of retinal conditions, including diabetic retinopathy, age-related macular degeneration, retinal detachment, macular hole, macular pucker, and complications of vitreous hemorrhage. He offers advanced surgical and laser procedures such as vitrectomy, laser photocoagulation, pneumatic retinopexy, and intraocular injections.
Dr. Wheatley serves as an Associate Clinical Professor in the Department of Ophthalmology at Rutgers-Robert Wood Johnson School of Medicine and is on the medical staff of Rutgers-Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital. He has an extensive research background, having published and lectured nationally on topics ranging from diabetic eye disease to intraocular lens fixation. He also served as a principal investigator in the nationwide Vitrase for Vitreous Hemorrhage Study.
