About Me
Dr. Steven Carter is a board-certified ophthalmologist dedicated to providing compassionate, high-level eye care. He treats a wide range of ocular conditions with both medical and surgical approaches, including laser-assisted cataract and refractive surgery. Dr. Carter takes pride in ensuring his patients feel cared for and achieving outstanding surgical results.
Beyond his practice, Dr. Carter is deeply committed to community service. He has volunteered with Surgical Eye Expeditions (SEE) International since 2010, helping restore sight through cataract surgeries in underserved global communities. He also regularly provides eye care to uninsured individuals at the Westminster Free Clinic in Oxnard. Dr. Carter is an active member of the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery and the American Academy of Ophthalmology, and he has presented at national conferences and published peer-reviewed articles.
Dr. Carter completed his ophthalmology residency at the Gavin Herbert Eye Institute, University of California, Irvine, where he served as chief resident and was recognized for excellence in emergency department consultation. He earned his medical degree from UC Irvine and graduated magna cum laude from UC San Diego with degrees in music, mathematics, and economics. In his free time, he enjoys surfing, hiking, camping, and playing the saxophone.
