About Me
Dr. Sharron Acosta is a board-certified ophthalmologist and cataract and LASIK surgeon serving patients across South Texas. She graduated with honors from the University of Texas and completed her medical training at the University of California, Los Angeles. After an internship in Internal Medicine, she returned to Texas to complete her ophthalmology residency at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio, where she served as chief resident. Dr. Acosta also pursued a post-junior fellowship in pathology and laboratory medicine at UCLA.
Dr. Acosta is the founder of Eye Associates of South Texas (formerly Eye Associates of Seguin) and offers comprehensive eye care for patients of all ages. Her surgical expertise includes advanced cataract surgery with astigmatism- and presbyopia-correcting intraocular lenses, laser cataract surgery using the LENSAR laser, and all-laser LASIK with the latest femtosecond and excimer technology. She also treats a range of eye conditions such as glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, and dry eye syndrome. She has established dry eye centers across her practice locations, utilizing diagnostic tools like Lipiview and treatments including Lipiflow and IPL laser therapy.
Dr. Acosta is committed to bringing high-quality, modern eye care closer to patients in rural communities, with multiple offices throughout South Texas. She maintains an appointment as Assistant Clinical Professor of Ophthalmology and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Acosta has held leadership roles in local and state medical societies.
