About Me
Dr. Scott Walter is a vitreoretinal surgeon and ocular oncology specialist who cares for complex diseases of the retina and choroid. He treats retinal detachments, macular holes and epiretinal membranes, diabetic retinopathy, and age-related macular degeneration, and evaluates uveitis and inherited retinal disorders. As Director of the Ocular Oncology Service, he provides coordinated care for intraocular tumors. He also welcomes second opinions and is known for clear, practical guidance before and after surgery.Dr. Walter earned his medical degree at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania, completed ophthalmology residency at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute, and pursued fellowships in vitreoretinal surgery at Duke University Eye Center and ocular oncology at Bascom Palmer. He serves as Vice Chief of Ophthalmology at Hartford Hospital and a clinical assistant professor at the University of Connecticut.
