Meet Dr. Royce Chen
About Me
Dr. Royce Chen is a board-certified ophthalmologist who specializes in the surgical and medical management of vitreoretinal disease and uveitis. He serves as the Jean Sheng Associate Professor of Ophthalmology, Vice Chair of Education, and Residency Program Director for the Department of Ophthalmology at Columbia University Irving Medical Center and is also an Attending Ophthalmologist at Harlem Hospital Center.
Dr. Chen completed his ophthalmology residency at Columbia University, where he served as Chief Resident, followed by a two-year vitreoretinal surgical fellowship at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute. His clinical focus encompasses a comprehensive range of retinal and vitreous conditions, providing both medical and surgical care.
He has a wide range of research interests, from retinal imaging and artificial intelligence to innovation in clinical and surgical education. Dr. Chen has received numerous honors and also holds leadership roles in national societies focused on retinal care and trainee mentorship.
