About Me
Dr. Omar Ahmad was born and raised in Southern Illinois. After graduating from Carbondale Community High School as class valedictorian, he attended The University of Chicago for his undergraduate studies. Dr. Omar graduated as a Student Marshall, the highest award of the university given to the top twenty graduates of each class. He then studied at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis. He received his ophthalmology residency training at the University of Michigan and completed a two-year Medical and Vitreoretinal Surgical Fellowship at the prestigious Cleveland Clinic.
Dr. Omar has been providing top-level care to his patients for over 15 years. He has performed some of the highest volume of retinal procedures and surgeries in the country. His interests include macular degeneration, diabetes, and surgical retina care, including retinal detachments, macular holes, and vitrectomy surgery for floater removal. He is happy to have returned to his native Southern Illinois and loves taking care of his patients through Southern Illinois and Southeast Missouri.
